Romain Morel, our Clefs d'Or Head Concierge, invites you to discover Cannes from a different perspective. Always on the lookout for the best spots, he takes you on an unforgettable escape, far from the usual paths.
Le Suquet, the Provençal Soul in Cannes
For an authentic immersion in the heart of Cannes, there’s nothing quite like starting your day with a stroll through its historic district: Le Suquet, whose panoramic view can be admired from the Roof.
Before making your way up the hill, take a moment to stop at the Forville Market, just steps away from the Five Seas. This colorful Provençal market, bursting with local flavors, offers a true taste of regional gastronomy.
Continue your walk along Rue Saint-Antoine, a charming cobbled street that winds through the old town, once a quiet fishing village. As you climb the narrow lanes of Le Suquet, you’ll reach the top of the district and be rewarded with a breathtaking view over the Bay of Cannes, the old port, and the city stretching out at your feet.
Don’t miss the Church Notre-Dame d’Espérance, a gothic gem overlooking the city, as well as the Museum of World Explorations, housed in the remains of a medieval castle once owned by the monks of Lérins. A fascinating journey through global history and culture.
After a beautiful morning, treat yourself to a gourmet break at Auberge Provençale Da Bouttau, the oldest restaurant in Cannes. Here, you can enjoy traditional French cuisine made with fresh produce from the Forville Market. Sophie and her team will welcome you with warmth and generosity.
Romain’s personal favorite? The dry-aged côte de bœuf from Maison Lerda, grilled over a wood fire… an absolute delight!
To end this getaway on a light note, hop aboard the Cannes tourist train. Perfect for families, it’s a fun and comfortable way to explore the city’s highlights: La Croisette, Rue d’Antibes, and Le Suquet, all accompanied by an audio guide sharing the history and secrets of Cannes. A playful and relaxed way to experience the city from a new angle.
Escapade to Lerins Islands, a natural jewel
Just 15 minutes by boat from the Port of Cannes, set off to discover the Lérins Islands, made up of Sainte-Marguerite and Saint-Honorat: two preserved natural gems where heritage, serenity, and enchanting landscapes come together. A must-do experience during your stay in Cannes.
Hop aboard our golf cart as we accompany you to the port, ensuring a smooth boarding onto the regular shuttle boats.
Your first stop: Sainte-Marguerite Island, the larger of the two. Upon arrival, a detailed map will guide you along shaded forest paths. Don’t miss the Royal Fort, famously known as the prison of the mysterious Man in the Iron Mask, as well as the Museum of the Sea. A stop at Pointe du Dragon offers spectacular views over the Mediterranean.
Continue your journey on to Saint-Honorat Island, a peaceful haven imbued with spirituality. Home to a community of Cistercian monks, the island shelters the Lérins Abbey, a true sanctuary steeped in history. You’ll also have the opportunity to discover the monks’ renowned vineyard, cultivated with care and dedication.
For lunch, we recommend La Tonnelle, the island’s restaurant, where you can savor local cuisine paired with wines from the abbey, all while enjoying the stunning sea view from the terrace.
After this delicious break, take time to wander through the island’s 40 hectares of wild nature, or simply relax by the water. A swim in one of the island’s tranquil coves is the perfect way to round off this timeless escape.
